Connex Group is a multidisciplinary company providing Structural Engineering Design Consultancy and specialist Construction Modelling and drafting Services for Steel and Concrete Structures.
Established in Wangaratta Victoria, Connex Group is a multidisciplinary company providing Engineering Design Consultancy and a specialist workshop Fabrication Modelling service.
In 2005, Kevin Feldtmann and Fabian Burder founded Quantech Design, specialising in mechanical engineering design and detailing. The company grew steadily and eventually diversified into the field of structural detailing. In 2015, Kevin and Fabian decided to split the two sectors into individual businesses, with Kevin leading the structural detailing sector. Connex Group was born. Since then, Connex Group has rapidly grown to become a leading shop detailing firm servicing clients regionally and nationwide.
In 2017, Connex Group further expanded its services to include structural engineering. Today, the structural engineering team boasts four engineers with a combined experience of over 50 years.
We have had an amazing journey coming to where we are today. Our main focus has always been our people, and we have surrounded ourselves with hard working professionals with a vast range of qualifications and industry experience.
We are passionate about giving back to the community that has helped us grow, and we take pride in providing opportunities for our local youth to gain experience in the construction industry through our Gap Year and Cadetship Program.
Meet the Team
Kevin Feldtmann
Director
Kevin has over 23 years’ experience in the industry. He began his business journey starting up Quantech Design with his business partner in 2005. Ten years later he took the next step by creating Connex Group. As the Director, Kevin oversees business development, strategic planning and has a key development role in all aspects of the business.
Bec Feldtmann
Administration / Accounts
Bec started in the business in 2007 and has overseen all administration, accounting and human resource tasks since this time. Bec works part time at Connex, teaching primary school students when she is not at the office. Bec also leads the Connex Wellbeing Team, focussing on physical and mental health, social activities and helping staff to achieve a good work life balance.
Damian Watson
General Manager of Operations & Technology
Since 2010, Damian has been a member of the Connex staff. Damian, who holds an Advanced Diploma in Engineering and Project Management, rose through the ranks from junior detailer to the position he currently holds. Damian oversees our modelling and detailing teams. Damian also has extensive experience in Tekla Structures training and customisation and point cloud scanning which benefits both our team’s efficiency and the needs of our clients.
Karl Hutchinson
SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER B.Eng Civil, CPEng, NER, FIEAust
Karl has worked locally in the Engineering Consulting industry since 1997 and joined Connex Group in 2017 to start up the engineering stream of the business. Karl leads a team of five experienced engineers and drafting staff to provide detailed engineering documentation across the commercial, industrial, government and residential sectors. Karl is a Chartered Engineer and listed with the National Engineering Register.
Susann Wiik
STRUCTURAL ENGINEER B.Eng Civil, CPEng, NER, MIEAust
Since graduating in 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Oulu University of Applied Sciences (Finland), Susann has worked as a Structural Engineer in North-East Victoria and Southern New South Wales. She joined Connex Group in 2018 and while she has extensive experience in both commercial and industrial projects, her passion is resolving the intricate details involved in high end architectural and passive house designs. Susann is a Chartered Engineer and listed with the National Engineering Register.
Ryan Hore
Senior Construction modeller/ Team Leader
Ryan joined Connex in 2017 as a Detail Drafter. Ryan’s ambition and dedication to his work has seen his role develop into construction modelling as a team leader. Ryan has a collaborative approach through integrated project delivery in major industrial projects, bridges, specialist modelling, point cloud scanning, residential and commercial construction. Ryan has a Diploma in Building Design.
Dane Bege
STRUCTURAL ENGINEER B.Eng Civil, MengTech(CivEng), MIEAust
Dane graduated from the University of Ballarat in 2006 with a Bachelor of Engineering Science (Civil Engineering) and Master of Engineering Technology (Civil Engineering). He has worked as a Structural Engineer in Melbourne and locally in North-East Victoria and has experience in working on commercial, industrial, and residential projects. Dane has been with Connex Group since 2021.
Rob Mundy
Senior Construction modeller/ Team Leader
Rob joined Connex in 2017 as a construction modeller coming from a background in timber frame detailing. Rob is at the helm, leading a team of construction modellers. Rob has a broad experience in residential, large-scale commercial, industrial, and delicate government infrastructure projects such as prisons, hospitals, schools and youth justice centres.
Cody Schutt
STRUCTURAL ENGINEER Engineer/Drafter B.Eng (HON) Civil, MIEAust
After graduating from University in 2019, Cody joined Connex Group as a Graduate Structural Engineer/Drafter. Cody is now well into the early stages of his career and is developing a strong understanding and experience in residential, commercial and industrial projects.

Jai Rinaldo
Construction modeller Coordinator
In 2015, when we were still known as Quantech Design, Jai joined our team as a construction modeller. Jai has attained significant expertise working on many different project types, both in the precast and steel industries. In his role as a construction modeller coordinator, Jai has participated in the bulk of our large scale complex projects. Jai has completed Tekla training for customization and has experience in commercial, rail, industrial, food and beverage and specialised cladding and screens. Jai holds an Advanced Diploma in Building Design and Project Management.
Ryan Brown
QA Manager
Ryan also joined the team back in 2011 when we were known as Quantech Design. Ryan’s career has progressed thanks to a solid working knowledge of 2D drafting and modelling across a variety of industries. Ryan took a brief hiatus from Connex and construction modelling and gained experience in electrical & mechanical drafting. Ryan re-joined us in 2020. With his methodical approach and an Advanced Diploma in Engineering and Technology, he currently oversees and manages our QA Department.
Corey Hill
Construction modeller
In 2018, Corey started working at Connex as a 2D detail drafter. Over the years, his role has developed into construction modelling, where he manages projects for residential, commercial, schools, rail, point cloud scanning and specialised cladding/screens.
Rebecca Hardy
Construction modeller
After graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture from Deakin University, Rebecca joined Connex in 2021. Rebecca began by gaining experience in the 2D detail drafting of steel and precast panels. Due to her dedication and attention to detail, she was recently appointed into the role of a construction modeller where she is now gaining experience in the residential and commercial side of the industry.
Damien Gambold
Senior Detailer/ Team Leader
Damien joined our team in 2020. Damien manages our team of detailers and gap year cadets as a senior detailer/team leader. He achieves this through his dedication to quality control, training, scheduling, process improvement and Tekla enhancements.
Kurt Piko
Construction modeller
After completing a Bachelor of Engineering (Robotics Mechatronics) Kurt joined our team in 2022 as a Detail Drafter. Kurt’s eye for detail seen him progress to join our modelling team, where he is currently learning all aspects of both commercial and residential building.
