Jim Stynes Bridge – Melbourne

This construction project consisted of a curved trussed bridge that supported a bicycle and foot path below a major road in the Melbourne CBD.

The project was originally commissioned to be detailed by an opposition firm but due to a failure to deliver we were engaged to re-model and detail the bridge. The bridge was constructed off site to survey points that our office provided to enable the final product to bolt together on site. The main challenge with this project was the fact that the structure curved around a center line and up and down in order to maintain clearance to the concrete bridge over. The outside edge of the foot bridge also flowed in and out providing a third degree of change.
